Orders amidst chaos….
The S&P 500 has just breached the 20% bear market threshold. And as is often the case amidst external chaos, nearly everything is down including Treasuries.
My own portfolio is only down 14%, which is hoped for from its structure but is in no way guaranteed. This is about what happened in 2022, but we could see more dropping here and I hope we do.
Plus, some stocks in my sectors of REITs and Energy are down much more that the averages. Consider Prologis (PLD), a very-large-cap REIT that dominates the logistics sector worldwide:
PLD is down more than 20% recently and 34% from its high just over a year ago. The yield is at 4.6%.
I’ve been saying for years that I needed to see a real collapse in the industrial sector before considering PLD, and that I would be a buyer at $80. We are getting close at $88 right now.
